Lions vs Browns: James Davis Shows Explosion | Player Rankings

We all know by now that the Detroit Lions didn't win a game last season and so far this preseason they haven't looked much better. It was bad enough that Michael Turner ran all over them last week but today the Lions made the Browns offense look like they were still playing in 2007.

Detroit should win some games this year as they have better talent overall but they will still go through growing pains in 2009.

James Davis Shows off his Speed

This is one of those situations that you know the offense had a great start to the game not so much because they are good but because they are playing a bad team. I hate to bash the Lions but man have they earned it.

The player I was most impressed with was Clemson rookie running back James Davis. In the third quarter James had an 81 yard touchdown run and flashed the speed in the open field I remember him having in his days in college.

For the night James had 12 carries for 116 yards rushing and the touchdown.

If Davis would have come out in of college as a junior last season he was projected to be a second round pick. Unfortunately for James he decided to stay for his senior year and had a poor season thus his stock dropped coming into this years draft.

At this point in time Davis is not draft worthy for fantasy football but if Jamal Lewis should go down for a stretch of time and Davis was given a shot to start, this would be a player you should pick up right away.

Matthew Stafford Struggles in Second Outing

Outside of Matthew Stafford's pick for six the other way last week against the Falcons he played a darn good game. This week he had another interception and over threw his receivers all night long.

Look for Daunte Culpepper to start at quarterback to begin the season as it is clear that Stafford needs time to grow before he is ready to be a starter in the NFL.

By mid season the Lions will probably put this young talented player into the starting lineup as they will be out of the playoff chase and waiting until next year to have a more competitive season.
