It looks like the Kansas City Chiefs are going to sign former Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis as their next offensive coordinator in the coming days. Both sides have reportedly agreed on a deal that should be announced later this week.

Weis had solid success in New England with the Patriots, as Tom Brady credits Weis for playing a big role his development, as a young quarterback, in the NFL.

Not only did Weis have success with Brady, but he also helped develop future first round pick quarterbacks Brady Quinn and Jimmy Clausen (should be a first rounder this year).

Improving Talent

Look for Weis to help starting quarterback Matt Cassel continue to develop as he should help Cassel succeed in his strengths.

Players like Dwayne Bowe and Jamaal Charles should also see a bump in value this coming fantasy football season as they have a coordinator that can help them mature in the passing game.

I especially like this move for Charles's fantasy football value as having Weis should guarantee his continued use in the passing game. Charles had 40 receptions last year, and if he is given a chance to add onto that total and still be the main runner, he could have a great fantasy season in 2010.

With an improving offensive line and solid young talent, the Chiefs' offense looks ready to make some noise as we get further into the 2010 season.
